Ashley Fox, Conservative MP Candidate for Bridgwater, is today (22/05/24) urging Somerset Council to take immediate action to rectify the longstanding issue of buses being unable to stop at the Bridgwater Train Station due to poor design, rendering it unusable since its construction.
The current layout of the bus stop fails to accommodate turning space for buses, hindering connectivity and the movement of local people in the area. Ashley is calling for a fresh and joined-up approach to tackle the challenges and enable buses to move easily and efficiently through the area.
Ashley Fox, Conservative MP Candidate for Bridgwater, said:
"The inability of buses to stop at Bridgwater Train Station undermines reliability and severely limits connectivity, it's imperative that Somerset Council address this issue urgently to ensure efficient bus transport for local people.
"With the government's support for buses, including the £2 fare cap extension, we have a prime opportunity to improve connectivity at Bridgwater Train Station, and it's crucial that we use this opportunity to its fullest potential by ensuring buses can stop directly at the station, facilitating convenient and affordable travel options for our residents."
